Dustin Johnson, 30, of Pioneer, was driving his 1997 Toyota at approximately 70 MPH, according to CHP, when he approached a vehicle driving about 40 MPH near the intersection of Associated Office Road.
As they were proceeding around a right curve at the intersection, Johnson attempted to pass the slower moving vehicle by moving into the eastbound lane, across the solid double yellow lines.
As Johnson tried to move back into the westbound lane, he made an unsafe turning movement and lost control of the vehicle. It traveled off the north side of Hwy 26 and struck a tree, then overturned and struck another tree, finally coming to rest on its wheels, according to the report.
Johnson reportedly suffered minor injuries in the accident.
