As someone who lives very near the Kiva in Copperopolis in the Copper Cove Subdivision I am a resident very much concerned with the noise levels of those in my neighborhood and on Lake Tulloch. I would like to know what the Board of Supervisors are doing about the proposed sound ordinance? We are one of the few counties in the state that does not have a sound/noise ordinance and I would like to ask the Board of Supervisors why?
We had the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department write up a comprehensive proposed ordinance and then the Board of Supervisors shelved it for two years. Come on can't anyone at the county level make some decisions. I understand the most of the board members either live on lots of private land or HOA that they control but not all of us have that luxury. When is someone going to look out for the good of the people.
Why did the Board not look into this problem in the winter.... instead they wait until summer is in full swing before they even put the item on the agenda only to TALK about it. ENOUGH TALK - Lets do something... anything, but this sitting on the hands has got to end.
I personally challenge every board member to do something during their term that benefits someone else besides themselves. Quite killing jobs, developments, catering to special interests or your own little charity projects and do something that benefits that masses like passing this sound ordinance. Don't try to talk around it and make it harder than it seems... make it happen or step down so someone else can. Proposed Ordinance

Because they realize there are only a handful of you crying about the noise. I suppose Russ is telling you he will get it done...more lip service was offered by him than any other supervisor our district ever had!
Lake Tulloch has not changed in 30 years. It has always been noisy and it will always be noisy. The real question is, who would have the expectation that they when they move to a resort community near the launch ramp and HOA beach and dock area that it would be quiet?
I believe there is a difference between people having fun on a lake and a party barge blarring their music all hours of the night, screaming and carrying on. There are those of us who LIVE on the lake and dont just come to visit to get drunk, crazy loud and stupid. Have some respect for others and be responsible otherwise get the hell off our lake.
And herein lies the problem. This is not "your" lake. It is a public lake and YOU have no more right to enjoy it then someone from the Bay Area. That is the law. Most noise nuisance laws are fairly lenient during the day...especially on a lake. Who do you propose is going to enforce these laws? Do you think the sherrif is going to launch a boat a 1 am and come to your cove to get the bad guys?? You should take up the noise ordinance project yourself. Happy Summer!!
