At approximately 1:30 AM on May 19, 2012, Calaveras sheriff's Deputies assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit located an occupied suspicious vehicle.
It was parked in the driveway of a vacant residence located in the 500 block of Lewis Avenue in San Andreas. Inside the vehicle the deputies identified Nicholas Frazier (29) and Carrie Smith (39), both of Herald.
Upon checking the registration information of the vehicle, a 1992 chevy van, the deputies learned that the license plate was not registered to the van.
They further learned that both the van and license had been stolen. The license plate was stolen from a San Andreas woman, whereas the van had been stolen from Lodi five days prior.
Both subjects were arrested and booked into the Calaveras County jail. While booking the subjects the deputies learned that Mr. Frazier was a current PRCS offender released from a California State Prison to Sacramento, his original charge being burglary.
Ms. Smith was charged with Possession of Stolen property (a felony) and vehicle theft (a felony).
Mr. Frazier was charged with vehicle theft (a felony), possession of stolen property (a felony), and 3455 PC Violation of Post Release Supervision conditions.
