Agricultural Commissioner Mary Mutz came before the Board of Supervisors to recommend that they dissolve the present Agricultural Dispute Committee which the Board appoints and must therefore abide by the Brown Act.
The famous Terry Baker, who protested for years about a neighbor who was raising roosters next door to him, was mentioned during her presentation.
Her proposal is to make it a committee of county employees that would, therefore not have to let the public know when or where they meet. She also said that their decision is not binding.
Since two women were murdered over an ag dispute they could not resolve, what is the purpose at all? And why would ag people ever be fair to those who have problems with ag?
Supervisor Callaway was clearly angry with Mary Mutz when she acted like she did not want to do the research requested of her by the Board of Supervisors, stating that she was "floored" that Mutz apparently was refusing to do what the Board directed her.
Mutz said that it would cost her department 80 hours of her time and that they would lose agricultural money as a result.
