Letter to the Editor: A Bear Story

     Dear Editor:
My husband and I live on the edge of a subdivision with the forest on one side.  Last night a young black bear came into the back yard looking for food.
It was thin and cleaned out a dog bowl, then turned and ran back into the forest when it saw me.
What I want to know is, is the "slash and burn" as its now called that Supervisors Wilensky and Callaway are doing, clear-cutting any possible natural food the bears could eat?
It seems to me that clear-cutting, whether from SPI or "slash and burn" is intentional attempts to starve the wild animals in the forest.  I believe Supervisor Callaway invited him in to clear cut everything in or around Arnold.
She is no environmental Supervisor if that is true. It will only make the animals come in closer to the subdivisions because they are starving.   The Sierra Sentinel is the only paper who seems to care about these things, so I hope you will print my letter.
