According to CHP, James Niel Behm, (62, of Hathaway Pines) was driving westbound on Hwy 4 at Lower Moran Road in Avery at 40 to 45 MPH, when he failed to negotiate a moderate, left hand curve due to intoxication.
The report states that Mr. Behm allowed his truck to drift onto the right shoulder and it ultimately overturned into a ditch. He was airlifted to Memorial North Hospital in Modesto with moderate injuries. After being arrested for an alleged DUI, Behm was released to the care of hospital personnel.
Behm's truck sustained moderate damage, and Hwy 4 received one-way traffic control for approximately an hour while the collision was investigated.
