As some sports announcers stated, the real winner of the U.S. Open over the weekend was Olympic Golf and Country Club in San Francisco. Well known as the graveyard of the champions, it was a foggy day in more ways than the weather.
With thousands in attendance, (no apparent economy problem in the Bay Area) Webb Simpson came away in first place, after Furyk lost control on the last two holes.
The 25 year old Simpson, sat in the locker room with his pregnant wife by his side to await the finish by Furyk and McDowell. Tiger Woods ended up somewhere around 21st, out of the money.
During the trophy presentation a fan jumped in front of the camera a began doing bird calls. Simpson just laughed it off. This win puts Simpson at # 5 in the world.
