Death Investigation by City of Angels Camp

   Shortly after midnight on July 24, 2012, a police officer was flagged down in the 1200 block of S. Main Street, regarding a male subject that was injured.

    Several subjects on scene reported that they stopped to assist a male subject that reportedly fell and struck his head on the sidewalk.

   The subject reported that they assisted the injured male into the lobby of his apartment building, and were preparing to call 911 to report the injury when the officer happened to drive by.

     The subject, ater identified as Michael W. Elliott, was transported to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital by ambulance, and later by air ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center.

   Mr. Elliott, a 63 year old Angels Camp resident, succumbed to his injuries and passed away on July 28, 2012 at approximately 10 PM.

   In order to complete a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led up to the injury sustained by Mr. Elliott, the police department is askeing for assistance from the public.

   Anyone who ay have witnessed any activity in the downtown area of Angels Camp during the time the injury occurred is requested to contact the police department.

   Again, the event is reported to have occurred sometime between the hours of 11:30 PM Monday night, July 23, 2012, and when police were flagged down shortly after midnight on Tuesday July 24, 2012.

    Mr. Elliott had been at Claussen's Corner bar prior to the injury, and was apparently walking to his apartment at the south end of the 1200 block of S. Main Street, when he was reported to have fallen outside of his apartment building.

i sure hope that the bartender did not continue to serve this man until he was so drunk he ended up dead!! it happens all the time. Please remember that when you are serving alcohol you are legally responsbile for the person you have overserved.
