Michael John Yurich of Murphys, passed away Thursday afternoon July 19th. Michael was ill for the past 2 to 5 years with ALS.
He was totally bedridden over the last several months when the disease quickly entered his throat and lung area. He was 55 years old.
Michael was a man with a high education level, a college preparatory degree from Bellarmine in San Jose, an AS in Radiation Technology from Chabot Livermore, a BA in Business with a minor in Law from UC Santa Barbara, an MBA from UCLA and an MS in Health Physics from UC Berkeley.
Michael gave up his career in the Bay Area for the two people he loved the most, his children Matthew and Michelle and moved to the small town foothill communities of Murphys, Angels Camp, Arnold, Sonora and San Andreas, believing he would give his children good roots to later spread their wings.
He was a truck driver in the foothills for about 15 years.
Michael loved no one more than Jesus Christ and his wife Maryanne was glad to take a second to the King of Glory.
Michaels devotion was expressed through the Catholic Church, it's many works and projects. He was involved with many ministries throughout his life.
He was in the Music Ministry, he sang and played guitar for many masses and special events; he was a member of the St. Patrick's Men's Club on Angels Camp and Murphys, and Our Lady of the Sierra in Arnold; he was a teacher for the RCIA; a member of the ICF; he did youth ministry and he was a pro-life activist.
Michael was also installed as a 4th Degree Knight with Bishop Blair, who handed him a signed crucifix as a gift when they were installed together. He will be buried will this very special high blessed article.
Michael is survived by his wife Maryanne, his son Michael, his daughter Michelle, his future daughter-in-law Cassie, his sister Kitty, his brothers Jim, Rick and Chris, his sistersin-law Joann, Lindy, and Christina, his nephews Robert, Gregory, and Charlie, his Aunt and Uncle Lou and Al, his cousins Carrie, Amber, Mason, Amelia and out of state cousins Janine, Jerry, and Arling.
Viewing will be at Angels Mortuary from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, followed by Mass beginning with the rosary at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp, and burial at Murphys St Patrick's Cemetery.
A reception will follow at St. Patrick's Hall in Angels Camp, the Feast of St. James.
