Another Letter to the Editor: Illegal Shooting at Candy Rock Quarry

Fire caused by shooters in another area

 Forest Administration Doesn't Care?

Letter to the Editor
About a month ago I sent an e-mail to Stanislaus Forest personnel Susan Skalski, Teresa McClung, and Sara Friberg, requesting information on the attempted noise evaluation from Candy Rock Quarry.
Not one of them responded. A neighborhood near the Quarry is at risk, and by not responding, the message is the FS does not care. Finally I heard from CURFU (a local org. trying to get the FS to relocate shooters to a site that does not impact neighborhoods) and found that it actually did happen.
Another source revealed there was some "secret" monitoring conducted for noise near the quarry over several weeks, but that it had be leaked by one of the shooters' friends in the Forest Service, so the outcome was some very quiet days .
No surprise there. Then through a news report, a cover up-- not sent into the Sheriff by one report, and through another the Sheriff's Department was told by the FS it wasn't needed -- of the illegal explosion at the quarr y over Sunday (a no shooting day) on Memorial Day Weekend.
Turns out the FS deputy was somewhere else on the forest and could not get to the site to ticket the perps. But when she did show up, it was reported that the shooters were shooting safely. Illegally, but safely. Hello? Some enforcement!
It's more than a crying shame the Forest administration either doesn't care or thinks it's OK if people have to move from their homes to get away from battlefield like shooting noise as well as safety issues, and it's OK to have a marginal enforcement who will slap the hands of errant shooters and not bother the sheriff.
The next possibility is something like this photo below: fire in Utah caused by target shooters. Is this what we have to look forward to--another fire because there is lack of due diligence on the part of the Stanislaus Forest administration?
