Chips Fire Slows Down

  August 23, 2012:  Now nearly to the banks of Lake Almanor, the Chips Fire in the Plumas National Forest is holding at 63,147 acres, although afternoon winds are creating spot fires over the containment lines.

The Chief of the US Forest Service visited and assessed
the Chips fire yesterday.

   Evacuations remain in place for the small towns along the Lake, and the containment level of the fire is currently 55%.
