Chips Fire Still Grows

  As of August 26, 2012 at 6 PM, the Chips fire had grown to 66,750 acres. As you can see by the map, this fire always seems to find a new place to spot and burn another 1000 acres.

   Containment is 61%. The winds died down overnight, and the cooler temperatures slowed the growth overnight.

   Seneca, Canyon Dam and Big Meadows are still under mandatory evacuation. Prattville is under advisement to evacuate. Backfire was set along the eastern line and crews are working to hold the containment line shown on the map.
