Dear Bearry Odd

Yes, black bears do sit up and
actually stand at times...

  As most of you know we get a few nuts who write things that aren't really printable, but we thought we would share some thoughts on the comments made.

    "Bearry Odd" stated that he saw a TV show
where bears ate people. We're not sure what planet that was on, but were they bears Black Bears or Grizzly Bears?

   Sadly, this person doesn't know the difference, but it doesn't matter. A Mr. Joe Duncan from Sonora also made some statements about how many black bear attacks there have been lately.

   So we went on the website for Fish and Game in California and read it all the way through. There have been a total of 12 black bear attacks since 1984.

   Some were due to a mother bear protecting  her cubs, others were due to two bears looking for the same food, etc. A couple required stitches due to scratches.

   At no time in the history of records in California has anyone been killed, much less eaten by a black bear. WE TASTE TERRIBLE!! And they were all in their territory, the forest.

   Please "Bearry Odd,"  move away if you are so afraid of all the living creatures and think they are all going to eat you.  Leave the rest of us alone to enjoy the wonderful wildlife in Calaveras County.

   We feel very sorry for you.
