David Chalian, Yahoo's Washintgton bureau chief, got caught saying something somewhat inappropriate into an open mic at the Republican National Convention today.
During a break in reporting Chalian apparently said that Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his wife were "not concerned at" about African Americans suffering because of Hurricane Isaac.
"They're happy to have a party with black people drowning." Chalian was quoted by Politico later.
Yahoo immediately issued a statement that Chalian's statement is not representative of Yahoo's views.
The audio has been played by some news organizations. ABC and Yahoo have partnered for the 2012 political season.
Chalian will have plenty of time to think about it as he was fired.
