Dear Fellow Citizens:
I'm almost afraid to say this, but I think it needs to be said. Two friends and I were talking yesterday about all the fires and the cost of fighting them and we all want you at the Sentinel to know we appreciate your reporting of them.
The wierd thing is, that we all recieved our first notices of the $150 tax per dwelling that the State is going to bill us--at the same time as fires all over the state seem to be growing out of control.
Is the timing simply a coincidence? Are they hoping that we will pay willingly without complaint if we are terrified by the large fires?
I am very aware that there is a political play in everything, including fires, and that fear gets votes, so I'm always going to wonder. It worked! I'm scared! What do you think?
