As of Thursday August 23, 2012 around noon, the Ponderosa Fire in Tehama and Shasta Counties has burned 27, 978 acres. It is 51% contained per CalFire.
Some residents in the Shingltown area were allowed to return home although 84 structures have been destroyed.
Other evacuations in the Manton area remain in effect.
