Rush Fire near Ravendale is Huge

  UPDATE:  As of August 20, 2012 at noon, the new total acreage burned in the Rush fire off Hwy 395 is 270, 683.  Containment is now at 50%.

 UPDATE: The Rush fire has now consumed 259,578 acres and is 51% contained as of Sunday August 19, 2012. Anyone using Hwy 395 into Reno needs to use extreme caution due to fire crews in the area.


    UPDATE:  Saturday August 18, 2012 at 8:30 AM. The Rush Fire has now consumed 232,000 acres of BLM land near natural gas and power lines that feed Reno.

   Hard to believe, but a wildfire that started on August 12, 2012 due to lightning, has now burned 140,949 acres of sagebrush, grass and junipers along Hwy 395 near Ravendale.

   Parts of Hwy 395 have had to be closed at times due to the fire. Use caution if travelling in that area, as fire crews are moving from one location to another. The fire is 25% contained at this time.
