Bigelow vs. Oller for Senate

This dog was abandoned as dead after
being injured while hunting
After the SB1221 controversy, we asked all of the people running for office this November where they stood on hunting bear with dogs. Only 14 states still allow hunting bear with hounds, including California.

We didn't need to ask Rico Oller, since its all over the internet about how he hunts bear with hounds. It affected his last run for office, and became quite a scandal.

Frank Bigelow was asked if he has ever, does now, or will hunt bear using hounds and the answer was a resounding NO! He doesn't hunt bear at all!

SB 1221 is a bill protecting dogs, as well as the bear and bobcat, from the mistreatment that often goes along with hunting, as after miles of running a bear may finally give up and turn and try to fight off all the dogs. What happens to these dogs?

One person who raises, kennels, sells,  and hunts with them told us he takes it out and shoots it if it is injured in a hunt?

Another told us that dogs who can no longer hunt or fight are turned into the animal pounds for euthanazia.

We have to go along with Frank Bigelow on this one. He at least has some compassion for both the bears and dogs, as does the National Humane Society.

Sadly, our local Calaveras Humane Society showed us they have caring for neither, refusing to speak up in defense of SB1221.

In the California State Senate election we have to find some differences in the two Republican candidates, and we just found one that is clear to the voters.
