Gunfire Noise Removed from Noise Ordinance

    Dear Editor:

In the Board of Supervisors Study Session about noise, a lot of different items were brought up; the sound of gunfire number one.

However, Supervisor Callaway was not willing to budge, trying to find a federal, state or county law to avoid putting anything in the noise ordinance that could affect her gun friends
from driving the neighbors crazy at Candy Rock Quarry.

Even though Tom Tryon tried to get it removed from exemptions, stating that it is the number one complaint received about noise, she continued to question everyone.

Finally, Captain Macedo of the Sheriff's department said that they could refer all questions about guns noise to chapter 9 of the code for firearms. There is NOTHING about noise in that code!

Callaway jumped on it and so the phrase will now say refer to the firearms codes of the County. Do some of the deputies also go to Candy Rock to shoot?  Sounded like it may have been planned.

I've heard many complaints that the Sheriff and Callaway have been way too cozy lately. Parades, visits, etc. Something is going on there. .

There has got to be a reason they both are encouraging the Hathaway Pines residents around Candy Rock  to suffer.
