Ruth Ireland Klann, 92, passed away in her home in Murphys on September 11, 2012.
Ruth was born on December 30, 1919 to Ira Ernest Ireland and Lena Witman Ireland in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
After her mother's death she was raised in Emporia, Kansas by her father Ernest and stepmother Marie Hamilton Ireland, who owned and operated Ireland's Shoe Repair on 421 Commercial Street.
She met and then married Ernest H. Klann while attending business college in Lawrence, Kansas on July 11, 1938.
She moved to Murphys in 1986 to be closer to her family.
She was the highlight of our lives. She was a wonderful mother to her four children and a faithful companion to our father, who passed away in 1996.
She also had a life-long love for gardening and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.
She was an inspiration to her nine grandchildren, and will now be a continuing influence for her 19 great-grandchildren as they follow her footstops in their own life's journeys.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Ernest and sister Challa Ireland Jones.
She is survived by her children Sandy (Frank) Rossi, Deniese (John) Sessions, Stephen (Claudia) Klann and James (Lynn) Klann, and brother Corydon (Cork) Ireland.
A private family gathering to celebrate Ruth's life will be held on September 22, 2012. From all of us, "WE're gonna miss ya Ma. Thanks for everything.
