According to the CHP, Sharon Mortensen, 73, of Murphys was driving a 2007 Buick on Hwy 12 westbound, at varying speeds in a reckless manner on September 13, 2012 at 12 Noon.
Mortensen continued her same driving behavior until she approached a curve within the roadway. Due to her detrimental low sugar level (hyperglycemic event) Mortensen was not able to maintain her vehicle withing the curve.
She then ran off the roadway to the north and traveled down a sloped embankment, then continued and collided into fencing with metal posts.
After the impact, the Buick came to rest north of the fence in a dirt/grass ranch field.
Mortensen was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries, and according to CHP, arrested.
