Melvin Ahrris of Valley Springs

    Melvin N. Harris of Valley Springs,  passed away at his home on November 1, 2012. He was 80.

    A native of Aberdeen, Washington, he had lived in Valley Springs for 25 years. He was a retired Safeway manager.

   Mr. Harris served in the US Navy from 1949 to 1954 and was in the Korean conflict. He saw action at Wonson Harbor and received the Good Conduct Medal and 2 stars for his Korean service.

   His greatest pleasure was being with his family and friends. He was a devoted, loving husband of 61 years and was forever giving of himself to his kids and grandkids.

   He donated his time to the community and was involved in various activities.  He was a kind gentleman who was loved by everyone he knew.

  Mr. Harris is survived by his wife Celia Harris of Valley Springs,  children Dara Kulberg of Valley Springs and Wayne Harris of Oakdale, and grandchildren Katie Lyman, Joey Lyman (Natalie) and Michael Harris.

   A memorial service will be held on November 10, 2012 at 1 PM at the American Legion Hall in Valley Springs.

   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to JVLMD Building Fund 189 Pine St. Valley Springs,  CA 95252.

   San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
