In our nearly a year spent on taking information given us and checking it out about the Unbited States Post Office, it is very clear that....
The quality of workmanship and honor or honesty of its employees has gone way downhill.
The demand for more and more money and bigger and better pensions that we will pay for has gone way up.
Now no one is surprised when a person reports something missing from their mailbox. I remember a time when the most trustworthy and hardest working people were postal workers.
So what happened? For one thing we are told that they lowered their standards; that they now keep on staff alcoholics and those with other mental problems instead of putting them on disability.
The APWU has also a blame in this. We have heard compliments for mail delivery people. In each instance it was a "contract " employee, the ones that the APWU workers humiliate and treat badly in general. They also make less money.
Where will it end? Well, if the Congress is smart, it will dissolve the Postal System as we know it and allow it to be contracted out.
Everyone we've asked thinks that UPS or FedEx would do a much better job of both providing the service and of customer courtesy.

I personally know 3 ex-postal employees that receive benefits for substance abuse related problems that resulted in their early retirement. How nice to get rewarded for screwing up.
