What is the Quimby Act???

Mr. W just cannot get his facts straight!!

One of the items mentioned during the rally for the TOT Supervisors last week was the Quimby Act. Mentioned during the Parks and Recreation non-profits turn, we did not recall having heard that one, so we looked it up.

It turns out that the Quimby Act is not quite what Mr. W stated it was. In 1975, California passed the Quimby Act, which states that a local government (City of County) COULD require that developers set aside so much land for a park and open space in their developments.

This was NOT a LAW THAT REQUIRES it, but an Act that allows it. Apparently, in 1978, when taxpayers voted for Prop 13, the State stopped pushing for it. THERE IS NO MONEY AVAILABLE to manage, police, or maintain them.

Mr. W seems to have a problem getting his facts straight, and we feel this was two comments, just during the one event which makes him unfit to be a Supervisor. Heaven forbid if District 2 elects him.
