and Obyrnes Ferry Road in Copperopolis at.
Everet Crowston, 80, of Copperopolis, was driving a 1999 GMC Sonoma eastbound on Hwy 4 at about 55 mph.
Nicolas Lefler, 33, of Douglas Flat, was driving a 1996 Mazda westbound on Hwy 4, just west of Obyrnes Ferry Road at about 55 mph.
An electrical malfunction with Crowston's alternator caused his headlights to shut off. Not being able to see, Crowston ran off the south side of the road where he collided with a reflector.
He then turned sharply to his left, causing his vehicle to overturn as it crossed the traffic lanes, directly into the path of Lefler's vehicle.
Crowston's front end collided with the left side of Lefler's vehicle. Crowston came to a stop on his right side, blocking the westbound lane.
Lefler was able to drive his vehicle to the shoulder where he came to a stop. Crowston suffered minor injuries and was transported by an American Legion Ambulance to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment, according to CHP.
