Vehicle Stop Leads to Two Arrests in Murphys

   According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office, on December 3, 2012 at approximately 1:15 PM Calaveras Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop in Murphys.

   The vehicle, being driven by Sheri Hines,  43 of Angels Camp,
had expired vehicle registration  and an equipment violation.

   A second person, Michael Outley, 28 of Angels Camp, was a passenger in the vehicle. 

   Upon checking the drivers licenses, wants/wanted status of both persons, the deputy learned that suspect Outley was on active state parole and probation out of Stanislaus County.

   A search was subsequently conducted of the vehicle and the suspects per suspect Outley's parole/probation search terms, and with their consent.

   The search of the vehicle revealed a wallet admittedly belonging to Hines. Inside the wallet the deputy located two bindles containing suspected methamphetamine.

   Both bindles weighed approximately .2 grams each. A baggie of suspected marijuana, weighing approximately 2.7 grams, was found inside the glove box.

   Additionally, two cans of pepper spray were located inside the vehicle, one in the glove box and one in the drivers side door pocket.

   Suspect Outley's parole officer was telephoned and advised of the contact.

   Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail.  Suspect Hines was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony and Possession of a Tear Gas Weapon by an addict, a felony.

   Suspect Outley was charged with Possession of a Tear Gas Weapon by a felon, a felony. Possession of Marijuana , an infraction, and Violation of Parole.
