on several charges on the afternoon of January 6, 2013.
At approximately 3:50 PM on January 6, 2013 an officer was dispatched to the Save Mart Supermarket in Angels Camp on a report of a possibly intoxicated subject that was touching children inside the store.
Prior to police arrival, the manager of the store approached the subject and told him that he could not touch people in the store and asked him to leave.
The manager followed the subject outside the store and waited for the police to arrive.
When the officer arrived, the subject, later identified as Dyken, attempted to leave and had to be physically restrained.
Once he was placed in handcuffs he attempted to manipulate his body so that his handcuffed hands were in front of his body.
After securing Dyken the officer interviewed the store manager, who stated that he observed Dyken approach a female customer shopping with her two toddler-aged children in the store.
The manager observed Dyken reach out and touch and apparently tickle the two children, and he said it was obvious the the mother was in distress.
The mother later told the store manager that she did NOT know Dyken and had no idea why he would approach and touch her children.
(The original police report was in error. We called the ACPC office and spoke with Theresa Pry, who then sent everyone corrections. There was no "Gee, thanks for letting us know", only an "OK" and a click in our ear. Very interesting.)
Dyken was taken into custody on charges related to annoying and molesting children, resisting and obstructing an officer, public intoxication, and bringing narcotics into the jail.
During the booking process it was discovered that Dyken brought some tobacco into the jail that was mixed with marijuana.
Earlier in the day, officers responded to a call at the Burger King restaurant, where a subject matching Dykens description was displaying a knife.
Dyken was gone by the time police arrived. Additionally, during the interview with the Save Mart store manager, it was discovered that Dyken had been in and out of Save Mart several times throughout the day, causing a disturbance.
The Angels Camp Police Department would like to interview the mother of the two children that was shopping when Dyken approached and touched her children.
