Dear Editor:
I'm in total agreement with what the President proposes as to gun laws, but also what you suggested in you article some time back.
The woman who owned the guns that killed 20 small children got them all legally. But she did not have to buy any insurance or keep them in a gun safe.
If I buy a car, they immediately force me to buy insurance because my vehicle could hurt someone else.
If I buy an automatic weapon and a 400 round clip, NOTHING!
Why aren't gun owners forced to buy a standard $2 million liability policy at the time they purchase a gun? Guns are AT LEAST as dangerous to others as any vehicle.
And to leave guns laying around loose where anyone can get should be illegal. This is where the laws need to be changed, insurance and a gun safe.
Sick of seeing little children slaughtered in Copperopolis

Tell me how forcing a legal and responsible gun owner to buy liability insurance would have prevented the recent tragedy. We are talking about the second amenement here, a hedge against a tyrannatical government. If you want to place blame/liability it is not the gun, look for the evil that pulled the trigger!
Do responsible and legal gun owners make threats to women and business owners? No, only crazy people who should not be allowed to have any weapon.
