At approximately 2:30 PM Calaveras County Sheriff's Dispatch Center received a cellular 911 call regarding an armed robbery at Firefall Jewelry
located in the Copper Town Square in Copperopolis.
According to the caller a Caucasian adult male with a bruised eye, described as 5'10" in height, brown hair, medium build, approsimately 30 years of age, and wearing a red hat and black sweat jacket, walked into the store, displayed what the caller described as a round object, and demanded the jewelry from the store display cases.
The suspect told the clerk that the round object was a hand grenade. The suspect stole an unknown amount of jewelry and walked away from the store.
Sheriff's deputies and detectives are currently responding or actively investigating this indident.
More information will be provided as it develops.
The Sheriff's Office will have many deputies in the area conducting the investigation searching the area and contacting potential witnesses.
