School bus Accident on Hwy 4 in Arnold

   Per CHP, on January 7, 2013, at approximately 7:40 AM, Linda Stephens, of Arnold was driving a Vallecito Unified School District bus eastbound on Hwy 4 and came to a stop in the eastbound lane, to pick up students at a bus stop.

     Sarah Bilchak, of Berkeley was driving a Chevy Tahoe to the rear of the school bus. She came to a stop to the rear of the school bus and approximately 4-5 seconds later, accelerated, turned to the left and crossed over the solid double yellow lines to pass the school bus.

     Bilchak was unable to maintain control of the Chevy on the icy roadway and collided into the right rear of the school bus.

   Asjley Koelling 10, of Arnold and Dayci Avil, 11, of Arnold were transported to Mark Twain Hospital with what was believed to be minor injuries.

   There were 29 students on board the school bus. Only two of the students, listed above were transported to Mark Twain Hospital.
