According to CHP, Steven E. Paul (57), of Valley Springs, was driving a 2001 Chrysler 300 on Milton Road southbound at a stated speed of 55 MPH.
Paul failed to maintain the Chrysler at the same speed as he encountered a curve within the roadway from right to left.
After transitioning through the curve, Paul failed to maintain the Chrysler in the soutbound lane.
Paul the allowed the Chrysler to turn to the right onto the west dirt shoulder. Paul then lost control of the Chrysler as it swung back to the left, across both lanes of traffic and onto the east shoulder.
The Chrysler continued where it collided head-on into a depressed seasonal creek bed that was overlaid with barbed wire fencing and metal posts.
After the impactt, the Chrysler came to rest in the creek bed, per the CHP report.
Paul was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries.
