CHP reports that on January 9, 2013 at approximately 3:20 PM, Christi Smith, 46, of Valley Springs was driving her vehicle, a 2001 Plymouth Neon, on Hwy 26 westbound.
She stopped in the lane, according to the report, waiting to make a left turn onto St. Andrews Road.
Kelly Dickinson, 51, of Valley Springs, was driving her vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Tahoe, on Hwy 26 westbound just east of St. Andres Road.
As Dickinson approached St. Andrews Road, she observed the Plymouth stopped in the lane directly ahead.
Dickinson applied the brakes and steered her Chevy to the right, but was unable to avoid the Plymouth.
As a result, the left front end of the Chevy collided with the right rear end of the Plymouth, causing major collision damage to both vehicles.
Smith was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries.
