Although many complain about Proposition 30 and what it will cost us, there was one silver lining buried inside that most people didn't even notice.
That is that is brings back into effect The Brown Act, the open meeting law. Created by Ralph Brown in 1953 and only 686 words, elected bodies have been seeking ways around the obeying of the law.
Here in Calaveras County we are hereby warning our Board of Supervisors, and other Special Districts to watch out.
A scam was created in Calfornia whereby government bodies were billing the State of California for acting on State mandated legislation. This is why it was temporarily curtailed earlier this year.
And this is more than likely why we see three Supervisors at meetings, lunches, and other gatherings without caring about the voters.
Let us know if you see three elected officials of any one body together outside a meeting. We will tell the world. And if you take a picture and send it to us, the world will see it for themselves.
