According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office, on January 26, 2013 at approximately 11:35 AM a Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle driving on Hwy 49 in San Andreas.
The driver, Amber Nicole McMillan (28) of San Andreas, was suspected of driving on a suspended driver's license.
She was also on probation out of San JOaquin County. During the contact the deputy obtained consent to search her and the vehicle.
During the search the deputy located a piece of paper containing credit card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes.
Suspect McMillan, when asked, admitted that the credit card information was stolen. While searching McMillans's purse the deputy found additional pieces of paper containing the names, dates of birth, addresses, and additional credit card numbers of numberous people.
He also located a black digital scale and suspected methamphetamine with a total weight of .1 gram, according to the report.
Inside the vehicle an illegal weapon (metal knuckles) was found, along with additional credit card numbers, driver's licenses, check books, other peoples personal identifying information, clear laminating paper, and a "s haved" vehicle key.
A shaved vehicle key is typically used to break into and steal vehicles.
Suspect McMillan was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County jail on the charges of Possession of Stolen Property (misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of an illegal Weapon (felony), Possession of Burglary Tools (misdemeanor), and Possession of Identifying Information/Credit Cards (Identity Theft) (felony).
The deputy made attempts to lacate and advise the identity theft victims that their personal information was compromises.
This case was referred to detectives for possible follow-up.
