CHP reports that on February 18, 2013 at approximately 4 PM Robert Clark, (63) was attempting to push his Ford out of his residential garage at 1048 Feather Ct in Copperopolis.
He failed to set the wheel chalk correctly and the Ford began to roll backward in a southerly direction.
Mr. Clark was inside the Ford when this occurred and the Ford's engine was turned off.
Upond realizing that the Ford was rolling Backward, Mr. Clark attempted to exit the vehicle quickly and reset the wheel chalk.
When he exited, he was struck by the open driver side door and knocked to the ground as the Ford continued rolling backward.
Mr. Clark suffered major injuries as a result of the collision and was transported via ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center.
Mr. Clark admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the collision, according to CHP.
