The USFS today announced that the Stanislaus National Forest is seeking public comment on preliminary 2014 off highway vehicle
grant applications for consideration by the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHVMR) Division.
Forest Rescreation specialists have completed two draft grant applications, proposing a total of five off highway vehicle (OHV) projects.
The proposals are prepared under OHVMR Division program revised regulations approved January, 2011.
The proposed projects include Forest-wide operation and maintenance of OHV trails and facilities, environmental planning for OHV restoration activities, educational trail signing and barrier placement, routine law enforcement patrols and visitor education, and restoration of areas where illegal OHV use has taken place.
The restoration planning and implementation will take place at various locations in the Forest. The OHVMV Division grants are an integral part of the ongoing successes of the Forest's OHV program.
The public comment period for grant applications begins March 5, 2013. The public is invited to review and comment on the preliminary application package.
The Stanislaus National Forest grant applications can be found by going to the California State Parks website at http://ohv.parks.ca.gov. Click on the Off Highway Vehicle tab, then the grants tab.
A link to the ON-Line Grant Application (OLGA) can be found mid page. Once at the OLGA site, the menu on the left contains Public Review Instructions and Reviewing Preliminary Applications Information.
The public comment period on the preliminary grant applications ends Monday, April 1, 2013. For information or questions related to the applications, contact Mi-Wok Ranger District OHV Recreation Specialist Chuck James at 209-586-3234.
