Is it true that the new 2012 census estimates released recently show population shifts as the US encounters its most sluggish growth levels since the Great Depression?
We can certainly back that up about Calaveras County, as our Board of Supervisors have enacted resolutions and ordinances which have absolutely decimated the entire economy here.
Young couple after young couple have left the county to try and find work to support their families elsewhere.
What are we left with? The older, dying off population who can't afford to move, due to their property values having declined so badly.
Some have criticized the AP census, but in Calaveras County, we can back them up 100%. This is what the Supervisors must have wanted. Old people don't come to the Board meetings and complain like younger people do.
