Letter to the Editor: 137 miles of off-road vehicle trails in Stanislaus?

   Dear Sierra Sentinel:

The unbelievable damage that has been done to the Stanislaus National Forest by the 137 miles of
unathorized off-road vehicle roads, the USFS was approving in 2010, was challenged by conservation groups.

In January of this year a court ordered that yes, the USFS had been negligent and needs to do a better job of protecting the forest and its streams and wildlife from these damaging machines, according to Earthjustice attorneys.

The destruction and terrifying noise is like terrorism in our forest, in my opinion, by off-roaders.

This is a sample of how the leadership of the Stanislaus is not trying to keep the forest and the animals that live there safe for posterity;  it is being destroyed before our eyes and our grandchildren may never experience its beauty.

Peace and tranquility; very little of this in the Stanislaus.  Between the shooting at that shooting range that everyone complains about and the off-roaders, there is hardly any quiet forest-like area.
