Recently, we've received a lot of questions and comments about how bad the smokey air
is in Ebbetts Pass. One couple even told us they moved up here because the air is supposed to be cleaner.
One person asked if they are burning off the entire forest so there won't be any fires. We told them, no, that they are burning off the key nutrients that bear and other forest creatures need so that they starve or come into the subdivisions.
That person said "That's why we see bear scat in the mornings. We don't see the bear, because it's dark, but we know they have been near the house.
We don't know how to explain the USFS's and CalFire's desire to destroy not only the watershed of Ebbetts Pass, but also the manzanita and other berries that the forest animals need to survive.
Then they got mad. "We move up here for clean air and a natural forest, and what do we get? Destruction of the forest and its creatures and smokey air."
Naturally upset, then they commented, "We could have stayed in the city for this!"
