The Angels Camp Police Department tells us that they have seen a dramatic increase in driving under the influence (DUI) arrests in 2013.
They have arrested 25 people for DUI between January 1, 2013 and May 10, 2013. Five arrests were made for the same time period in 2012.
Of the 25 DUI arrests made this year:
* 3 were a result of responsible citizens contacting law enforcement when they witnessed a suspected DUI driver.
* 18 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, with an average blood alcohol level of 0.13.
* 4 people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.
* 3 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The Angels Camp Police Department is asking for the comunity's continued support in keeping our roadways safe. Always remember to:
* Designate a sober driver. Never drive while impaired.
* Call 911 to report a suspected DUI.
