CHP reports that on July 22, 2013 at around 4:40 PM that Richard Soracco (67) of Angels Camp was driving a 2009 Chevy Colorado westbound on Hwy 4, west of Hillcrest Drive, at approximately 45 MPH.
Diane Lauterbach, (62) of Hathaway Pines was driving a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Hwy 4, west of Hillcrest Drive at approximately 10-15 MPH.
Diane Lauterbach was slowing to turn right into her private driveway, according to the report. Richard Soracco fell asleep while driving the Chevy and veered to the left, crossing the westbound lane, the two way left turn lane and the eastbound lane before the front end of the Chevy collided with the left side of the Jeep.
As a result of the impact, the Chevy spun to the right, and came to rest with its front end facing in a southwesterly direction.
The Jeep spun in an unknown direction and the rear end of the Jeep collided with the dirt embankment per the report.
After this impact, the Jeep spun around and came to rest with its front end facing in a southerly direction, blocking the eastbound lane.
Soracco was taken by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center with minor injuries. Lauterbach was taken by ambulance to Sonora Community Hospital with minor injuries.
Alcohol and or drugs are not considered to be a factor in this collision. This collision is still under investigation.
