On July 26, 2013 at around 4 PM CHP responded to a single vehicle traffic collision involving a motorcycle on Hwy 49 near Carson Hill.
It was determined that the driver of a 2000 Harley, Frank Fagundez (26) of Chowchilla, lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a curve in the roadway.
His passenger, Tanya Absher, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained moderate injuries, consisting of abrasions and lacerations.
She was transported to Mark Twain Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Fagundez was wearing a non-DOT approved helmet, and did not sustain any injuries.
The motorcycle sustained very minor damage to a "crash bar", and was ridden from the scene.
Absher was wearing a full-face, DOT approved helmet and did not sustain any head or face injuries.
Neither party was wearing protective clothing. Alcohol and/or drugs were not contributing factors in this collision.
The cause of this collision remains under investigation, however, preliminary indications are that the collision resulted from excessive speed and poor lane placement.
