July 10, 2013 Zimmerman: Mr. Root looked shocked when the defense asked him if Mr. Zimmerman did anything dangerous the night he shot Trayvon Martin?
He said that based on his knowledge of the situation and the elements that night, he had no choice but to shoot him.
Then Mr. Root was asked by the State on Cross-examination if he was answering that Zimmerman had no choice, what about what Trayvon Martin was doing.
He said that he DID know what Trayvon Martin was doing at the time he was shot. Then he tried to say it was the totality of what he knows.
Do you know what Trayvon Martin was doing at the time he was shot. Well, no I wasn't there, as he looks over at the jury he said that he took the totality and the perception was that what Mr. Zimmerman told him.
This was about 2 or three months before his 2nd degree murder trial? He said 'Yes". Have you ever been retained to testify for a criminal defendant before?
He said twice, he believes. Then he said this is the first time I have testified for a criminal defendant.
Do you know what caused George Zimmerman's injuries could cause that damage to his nose? He saw abrasions around his eyes and he believes he was punched in the nose by a fist. That is what Zimmerman told him.
