During today's Calaveras Supervisor meeting, Supervisor Callaway, who spends a lot of time in all the County offices (except the Assessor's office) tried to hold on to 4 positions that staff proposed removing from the employee control list.
These are unfilled positions and Chair Callaway is determined, despite our $3 million deficit, to fill more employee union positions.
Al Segalla, from Copperopolis, wisely reminded the Supervisors that they owe their loyalty to the public, the people who voted for them FIRST.
Finally, Supervisor Callaway, embarrassed that her fellow Supervisors were all against her, voted in favor of removing the positions permanently.
The Sierra Sentinel is very impressed that these new Supervisors, Edson, Wright and Ponte, do not just follow along with Callaways lead, as it always used to be. Congratulations to your three for caring about the people for a change.

It's only permanent until 3 decide otherwise.
