Did the Calaveras County Planning Director resign?
After two days of rumors, it does appear that Rebecca Willis, the controversial Calaveras County Planning Director, has resigned. This from an unofficial source. We have not yet seen the letter!

What's with this county? How many Planning Director's have left in the last 15 years? I wonder what caused it. In the past, supervisors were the cause. Too much micromanagement! Could that be due to the supervisors not being educated in their own rules & regulations? If you had to choose, which supervisor would you put in temporary charge of the Planning Dept.? That would be an entertaining leadership to watch. They could have a key fob for the door to enter at will. I guess that's it, Callaway for temporary Planning Director.
The problem with the past Planning Directors were that they let the BOS tell them how to do their job. Now we have a Planning Director that knows what she is doing, follows the rules and for that she is being met with resistance on every level. I am not saying she is perfect or that I even like the direction that the General Plan has taken, but she is the most knowledgeable that we have had to date and I really hope this is in fact a rumor!
I couldn't agree more !! Every time there's a qualified person in Calaveras County, no matter what, if you don't make these lazy, drunk, non productive, old hens happy, you're name is mud! I just don't know how these mother cluckers sleep at night. Well, I guess they just pass out...
It's no rumor. Edson must not have learned during the primary election, when Tofanelli's micromanaging was brought front and center. Neither did Ponte. Had Ms. Willis done as was pressured to do, the environmental community would have sued and won. Maybe Edson should try reading the codes, rules, regulations, statutes and court cases to gain a broader understanding of the job he was elected to do. A suggestion to Edson, stop the micromanaging of departments. If you have an idea bring it before the public as an agenda item. So far, your "jobs" agenda item was and is a non-starter.
You have got to be kidding. This is politics. Callaway has been running her district anti job for 20 some years. Now it really shows. Only her personal friends got projects through. The problem was with this Planning director, who brought her own politics into the job. She forgot that she works for them, not the other way around. Edson never did anything to her. She did it to herself.
Kidding, you should read more. Maybe you, Edson and Ponte could read together, the State's General Plan Guidelines to start. Then read the county codes. WHOOOOPs, wait a minute, read the Constitution first. Then read the oath of office the elected county representatives swore. Then read Appendix E:Court Cases in the State's General Plan Guidelines. Read the court cases concerning Calaveras County. Be sure you have Edson and Ponte with you, share the reading chore with each other. You will feel enlightened, you'll be smarter than the other supervisors. I can see it now, Kidding for Supervisor!
"Guidelines" it is apparent you have not read anything. The "guidelines" are not up for interpretation. If someone sues the county, which happened in 1984 and 1985, the county won locally, the appellate courts overruled. What's worse? The county hasn't changed in 29 years. Welcome to Calaveras County. As much as I hate to say it, Teflon Tom Tryonville Tryon was right when he expressed his concerns regarding the circulation in Copperopolis. In case you don't know it, Calaveras has a deficit. It would be imprudent to directly contradict laws knowing a unsustainable lawsuit would follow. A suggestion to the BOS, get on your knees, grovel, beg Ms. Willis to stay, to retract her resignation. An alternative, the BOS resigns enmasse, immediately.
I voted for Edson because he said he was going to bring jobs to district 1. but planning put stops to everything except more welfare housing in san andreas. is that what you want, more welfare? I think she was bad news! There is a balance between the anti-job jealous neighbors and the pro-job working people in this county. NO dictatorships in planning!!!
Rebecca Willis was a horrible Planning Director. I'm not sure who she was taking orders from but when you are biased then you should get fired! I blame County Counsel for everything...they are the entity that is supposed to direct the BOS on the legalities of their positions. Edson is legit and votes the right way...Ponte is in over her head, Spellman needs to resign with Willis, Wright is smart for the most part and Callaway is for sure the senior most political abuser!!!
So tell me what is Edson's job's count? What is the status of new commercial businesses that will provide sales tax revenue to the county on a continuous basis? Read Calaveras County's history, you'll be surprised by the eye opening information contained in history. It is hard to find. The Sierra Sentinel has in the past provided information of this county's history. Thank you, Sierra Sentinel.

Actually, this one was a dictator, anyone who threatens to quit if they don't get their way.

You just said it, "guidelines". that's what planning is all about, interpreting guidelines to each individual case and piece of land.
