A native of Turtle Lake, North Dakota, he was the son of Reinholat Schmollinger and Dorathy Schmollinger.
Leo was a graduate of Calaveras High School and was a carpenter by trade. He could pretty much fix anything that needed fixing. He volunteered and coached for Calaveras Pop-Warner football for many years.
He was also a big 49er fan and loved watching football with his sons. He grew up in Calaveras County, went to school here, raised his family here and it was his favorite place to live.
Leo was a positive person, who loved to give hugs and always had a smile on his face. He loved his friends and he was loved by all who knew him.
He loved his wife of 27 years, Deana. Leo's life was cut way too short, and he will be loved and missed every day by many.
He was a very loving, caring and kind man Leo was a family man who dearly loved his wife of 32 years, Deana. He loved to buy candy for the kids and he was a Papa that loved to spoil his grandchildren.
He was also an avid golfer, loved the mountains, airplanes and taking his kids to airshows.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching and camping, especially with the Herd family.

He is survived by his wife Deana Schmollinger of San Andreas, son Justin Schmollinger of Valley Springs, son Mark Stockdale of Valley Springs, and son Michael Schmollinger of San Andreas.
He also leaves nine grandchildren; Malachi Stockdale, Elijah Stockdale, Eve Stockdale, and Zoe Stockdale of Valley Springs, Emma Schmollinger, Todd Schweitzer, Hudson Feuerstein, Payton Schmollinger of Valley Springs, and Danial Schmollinger of San Andreas.
He is also survived by his mother Dorathy Schmollinger of San Andreas, sister Arvedell Walker of San Andreas, and brother Gene Schmollinger of Murphys, and sister Joanne Youngblood of San Andreas, Father and Mother-in-law Dean and Nora Porterfield, brother-in-law Dennis Bieninger (Cyndi), best friends Tom and Rhonda Herd of San Andreas, and countless other friends.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life for Leo Schmollinger at his eldest sons house, Justin Schmollinger.

Finger foods and desserts will be provided. If you want to contribute, that would be great. There is a swimming pool where the kids are welcome to come and swim, so bring suits and towels for the children.
