Dear Editor:
I have been following the articles, letters and comments made on your website about the US Postal Service, and I have to say that at first I was kind of like that strange Copperopolis woman in defending them.
Then someone made a comment about the we all pay the exact same amount in postage, and since I own a business, I pay a lot more than average.
However, I definitely receive lousy service at the Post Offices and they do not deliver to me like they do to some businesses.
They discriminate based on distance, zip code, and a number of other excuses to deny us the same level of service that millions get right to their homes and businesses.
I have friends who can even buy stamps from their personal postman and never have to deal with the rude clerks at the post offices.
So why should the USPS be allowed to charge us all the same, but deny the same level of service to certain people. I think our Congresspeople should be in there fighting for us, but they don't.
Then last night I watched a union commercial for the members, complaining that the government makes them pay for their promised future retirement benefits and wanting that money back. They also claim they work soooo hard!
They actually said that the Congress is the only reason they are losing money. Are they kidding? If the government didn't force them to set that money aside, their retirees could get totally screwed, just like we do every day.
We should all demand full service for the same cost and not let them discriminate against us. Either cut out all physical deliveries or deliver to everyone for the same price.
This is not a business they are running, but a charity for otherwise unemployable people in my humble opinion. So thank you all for writing about your experiences. It should make us all think!!
Grateful for the truth in Arnold
