According to CHP, August 19, 2013 at around 7:30 PM, Calvin Scott (49) of Sacramento .0*was driving his 1993 Harley
Davidson Sportster eastbound on Lime Creek Road just east of Hwy 12 at an unknown speed
Michael Rice (22) of Valley Springs was driving his 2001 Honda Civic westbound on LIme Creek Road at about 40 MPH approaching Hwy 12.
For an unknown reason, Scott allowed his motorcycle to cross over the solid yellow lines into the opposing traffic lane, directly into the path of Rice.
Scott collided head-on with Rice's vehicle and was ejected from his motorcycle, landing in the middle of the roadway.
The impact with Rice's vehicle caused Scott to suffer fatal injuries. The helmet Scott was wearing was not an approved helmet and did not meet requirements established by the US Department of Transportation, which may have contributed to Scott suffering fatal injuries.
Rice was wearing his seatbelt and suffered only minor injuries . He was displaying symptoms of alcohol or drug impairment and was arrested at the scene for driving while under the influence.
Pending the results of a chemical test, Rice may be facing criminal charges. Both were transported to Mark Twain Medical Center./
