August 6, 2013: Governor Brown's Bay Delta Conservation Plan released a draft economic impact study yesterday that says the "tunnels" would result in a significant net economic benefit to the State of California.
No one will try to deny that fact. But it is perfectly clear that the economic benefit will be to Southern California, who is desperate for more water (the new gold), not us up here in the north.
Our water, going through the giant tunnels, to Southern California will no doubt increase their economy, allow for more growth and business development there.
Meanwhile, Northern California is left holding the sand at the bottom of the creek, as global warming gets worse and worse.
Once that water is gone, it's gone forever. We can never get it back. And once those tunnels are filled, there will be no way to ever slow it down. We will suffer both economically and environmentally.
What's interesting is that the environmentalists have all bought into this: the Sierra Nevada Conservancy gets our tax dollars, they then hire the CHIPS group to clear cut the forests, even your private land and CalFire steps in and takes another tax to help implement and control the clear-cutting.
Why? To get more water released from our watershed (they call it enhancing the watershed) to make sure the water does not go to the forest, but goes to the tunnels. Do you get it yet?
