CHP just issued their report of the traffic collision that occurred on August 5, 2013 at Hwy 49 and California Street in San Andreas.
According to that report, two vehicles travelling northbound on Hwy 49 stopped for a pedestrian waiting at a crosswalk. A third vehicle was approaching their location from behind.
The driver of the third vehicle was inattentive to her driving and failed to observe the traffic stopped ahead of her.
When the driver looked back to the road, she only had a moment to brake before her vehicle struck the one in front of her.
The force of that collision pushed the second vehicle forward and caused it to strike the third vehicle.
The drivers of the two rear-ended vehicles were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
